KH Gallery Ginza 8th Exhibition
Hiroko Koshino COLORS
– Inspired by Street Art –

KH Gallery Ginza in Namiki Street, Ginza, presents variety of artworks of an artist Hiroko Koshino that match up with each season.

In April, just before setting out to create artworks for this exhibition, Koshino was impressed by the scenery that she saw in Greece where she had been traveling. It was a street art (graffiti) that decorates the run-down wall with its surface poses a melancholy look, decaying over time. The graffiti gave the wall a vibrant colorful look.

Based on her memory of the travel, Koshino’s original graffiti art pieces that are created on art boards, are being exhibited while exercising as many mediums as she can currently employ. Those include graffiti, a primitive medium of creative activity, photo collage, and artworks with repetitive images that present design elements, and so on. Meticulously selected small art pieces among some 100 art pieces shall convey feelings that Koshino must have felt, while capturing each image through the lens of a camera. Things that have been around for ages similarly embrace old and new feel; subtle charm that passage of time can only deliver that are contrasted with vivid strong colors… Koshino’s memory and her free imagination bring you to the vivid graffiti world. Please enjoy.

At Biwako Biennale, takes place around the same time as the exhibition, installation under a theme of “White World” along with some of the artist’s paintings are put on exhibition. Koshino’s another world that differ from visual vivid ones can be enjoyed there.
